JAPAN’s Odakyu Electric Railway unveiled its new series 70000 “Graceful Super Express” EMU for Romancecar luxury limited express services on December 5.

Nippon Sharyo is supplying two of the seven-car trains, which will be introduced in March on services from Shinjuku station in Tokyo to Odawara, Enoshima, Tama New Town, and Hakone.

The series 70000 features a panoramic section in the outer cars and 1m-high ribbon glazing along the length of the train. To provide high ride quality, the trains are equipped with electric-hydraulic hybrid full active suspension. Each 142m-long set seats 400 passengers.

The introduction of the new trains will coincide with the completion of four-tracking on the Yoyogi-Uehara - Noborito line, which will enable the introduction of a revised timetable with increased Romancecar services.
