Dublin inaugurates Luas Cross-City Line

First section of Luxembourg tramway opens

PASSENGER operations began on the first completed stretch of Luxembourg’s light rail line on December 10 with the opening of the eight-station northern section along John F. Kennedy Avenue between LuxExpo and Rout Bréck-Pafendall (Pont Rouge).

Qingdao opens second metro line

THE Chinese city of Qingdao opened its second metro line on December 10, with the start of trial passenger operation on the 20.4km Licun Gongyuan - Zhiquanlu section of the north-south Line 2.

A handover ceremony was held at Transnet Engineering’s assembly plant in Durban on December 7 to mark the acceptance of the first class 23E Traxx Africa electric locomotives for Transnet Freight Rail (TFR).

THE first ACS-64 electric locomotive for Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (Septa) has left Siemens’ plant in Sacramento, California, bound for Philadelphia.
